Mason had to start 11th in his heat race, in only 8 laps he made his way up to 4th. Started 8th in Feature and finished a very strong 4th after a Great run in a very wild race.

Mason's first visit to Anderson Speedway. He has a good run in a tough field of cars at this National Qualifying Race.
August 8 - Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville, Nashville, TN.
Qualified - 3rd
Feature - 1st
Mason started on the outside pole for the feature and took the lead on the first lap and led all 25 to take the win in Nashville. He drove a great race and was very excited to take the win. A good day for Mason!
August 6 - Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, GA.
Thursday Thunder - Week 10
Heat - 2nd
Feature - 2nd
Mason had probably his best car out of the 10 weeks of competition at Thursday Thunder. He started 5th in his heat race and ran a strong 2nd. In the feature, Mason ran 2nd all race and had a very fast car. This ends the Thursday Thunder Series for 2009, Mason finished 3rd in points and had a very good Series. He had two rough weeks starting the series, but ran the last 8 weeks with no finishes out of the top 4. A good job for your first year in a Legend car!

Summer Shootout - Week 9

Feature - 14th
Mason had a good car in the heat race for a strong 2nd place finish out of 11 cars. However, in the feature we picked the wrong adjustment and the car was horrible for Mason. Mason said, "the car was almost undriveable." We learned what not to do next time at Lowe's.

Another good confidence building run for Mason. He had a good car and ran with the leaders all night.

Feature - 4th
A very tough race with alot of competition. Mason was running 5th with about 7 laps to go and he was spun on a restart and had to go to the rear. He fought back through the field and at the finished line had a three wide battle photo finish for 2nd place. A great run coming from the rear.
July 18 - Watermelon Capital Speedway, Cordele, GA.

Mason finished 4th in a tough 8 car field. The three cars that finished in front of Mason were all Pro drivers. A good job at a very fast race track.

Mason had another consistent run in Week 7.

Thursday Thunder - Week 6

Mason had to face a little adversity in Week 6 of Thursday Thunder. After having trouble in the heat race, Mason had to start the feature in the 11th position. He came through the field with a respectable 4th place finish. A good night considering Mason's bad luck in the heat race, and bad starting position in the feature. Also, a good night got better when our buddy, Beau Slocumb, who is recovering from cancer showed up at the track. Beau's cancer is in remission and he looked great. An awesome sight for a fellow who has had a tough 5 months. We are praying for you Beau!!!
July 2 - Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, GA.

Another good night for Mason at Atlanta. He got his first heat race win in a Legend at Thursday Thunder. In the feature, he finished 4th out of 16 cars.
June 27 - Lanier National Speedway, Braselton, GA.
Heat - 5th
Feature - Got Wrecked
Mason had a very fast car at Lanier Friday night. He started the feature in the 9th spot, and about 6 or 7 laps into the feature he made a CLEAN pass for the 4th position on Cody Garland. On the next lap, he was wrecked from behind by Garland. Garland was heard after the race saying he "took Mason out on purpose." This is not cool at all. The legend cars are running close to 90 mph at Lanier and when someone does something like this, drivers can get hurt. Mason's car was smashed pretty good, and had to have a rear clip installed. It's a shame people can not go to a fun track like Lanier and get raced clean. But we will come back and race hard at Lanier again.

A good run for Mason, he led 9 laps in the feature and ended up with a strong 3rd place finish out of 15 cars.

Double features this week due to the rain out in Week 1. In the 1st feature, Mason was running 3rd and a wire came off his coil. This caused the car to lose power and Mason faded to an 11th place finish. Tough deal, our luck has to get better. In feature 2, Mason had an outstanding run. Finally, we had some luck on our side, the car was awesome and Mason drove a great race. He ran the fastest laps in his career at Atlanta, and it showed with a strong run. Mason would like to thank a few people for their help giving him a good car: Rusty Clanton, Hill Brothers Racing, and Nick Hill. Hopefully, we can build from this run next race.

B-Main - 15th
Mason had to run the B-Main in a driving rain. He was up to 5th, in a transfer spot, and the car in front of him spun out and Mason could not miss him and they hit. Mason was sent to the rear, thus ending our night.

Mason was spun in the heat race and the feature race. That makes for a tough, frustrating night. On a good note, Mason substituted for Dalton Hill in the Bandolero Bandit race. It was his first time in a Bandolero in a while and he had a great time. He finished 2nd in the feature out of 15 cars.

What a weird night for Mason. This was Mason's first trip to the biggest and fastest Legend track around. Mason had a very fast car in practice and adjusted to the fast speeds quickly. After being required to start in the rear of the field, some goofy local rule, Mason took the lead on lap 10 of the 25 lap feature. Mason had to pass the leader 3 different times to finally have the lead. We had multiple cautions when Mason passed for the lead twice and one time they even put the leader back to the front when he spun out by himself in oil on the track that was never found. If the "oil" was found, there was no Oil-Dry put down. Mason led until a local Pro driver passed him and they had one heck of a battle for the win. The local Pro driver, Alex Kempf, ended up winning the race. Mason and Alex both had a great time in an exciting race. Now this is where it gets weird, the winner and the 3rd place car both cleared post race tech in about 20-30 seconds each. When Mason rolled into tech, you would have thought it was tech at a National event. They were giving the car a thorough inspection, and i knew we were in trouble being "outsiders." Finally, after 25-30 minutes in tech, we were disqualified for an "infraction" of being 1/16th of an inch too long on Mason's wheelbase. What a crock!! Moral to the story, you can run with the locals but be prepared to beat the scorers, drivers and tech officials. A fun track to race on, but a lot of politics on this night.
May 8 - Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, GA.

Feature - 6th (16 cars)
Mason had a good night at his home track, Atlanta Motor Speedway. He led the heat race until the end and was passed off turn 4 when his car got loose. In the feature, Mason was spun on lap 1 and was put to the rear. He fought back to earn a 6th place finish. A real good run fighting through adversity.
April 27 - Lowe's Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC.
Feature - 7th (21 Cars)
The car was a ton better than last week at Lowe's. Mason ran 4th almost the whole race and late race contact with another car had Mason finish 7th out of 21. A great job by Mason and a big learning experience. A huge improvement from the April 20th race.

April 20 - Lowe's Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC.
Feature - 8th (14 cars)
Mason's first trip to Lowe's in a Legend car. The car had a serious handling problem and we struggled to correct it. Not a bad finish with a tough handling car.
April 18 - Fairgrounds Speedway, Nashville, TN.
Qualified - 4th (10 cars)
Feature - 3rd
Mason started the feature 5th, and worked hard to earn a strong 3rd place run.
April 11 - Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, AL.
Qualified - 4th (15 cars)
Heat - 3rd
Feature - 11th, DNF
Mason had a fast car in his 1st trip in a Legend car to Sunny South. He was running 5th with 6 or 7 laps to go and had a motor issue and had to drop out of the race. We had a great time at a very fast track.

A great run for Mason with a very competitive class of Young Lions.

Mason had a Great weekend in Kentucky. We went with the goal to get Mason a lot of track time with the doubleheader weekend. He ran good both days and finished 3rd out of 9 cars.
March 7 - NASCAR Weekend at A.M.S.
Feature - 6th
Mason had a good car. Started 7th and was passing for 2nd with 2 laps to go and the outside cut down and took both cars out. The car was OK but the front bumper got into the tire.

Mason had a Good day at A.M.S. He won his heat and both features in the Chargers Division. This was his 1st Win in a Legends car.
