Winter Series Race #5

Feature - 4th

After a spin-out, Mason came back to finish 4th.

Following the race Mason attended the Atlanta Motor Speedway Thursday Thunder Summer Series Awards Banquet. Mason was awarded the Most Improved Driver of the year. He also received his 3rd Place points trophy for the Summer Series out of 25 drivers, finishing just 4 points out of 1st. Mason also placed 2nd in the Hard Charger Award. This award is given to the driver who passes the most cars in the 10-week series under green flag conditions.

December 14 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Winter Series Race #4

Heat - 1st

Feature - 1st

Mason had a great night on a very fast track at AMS.  He led every lap of his heat race, and the entire 20 lap feature.  Kyle Benjamin, of Simpsonville, SC, and Mason had a very competitive race and were running the fastest laps ever turned at AMS in a Bandolero.  Mason will be off until January 5, 2008 when he returns to AMS for the Road Course Race.

December 1 - Watermelon Capital Speedway, Cordele, GA.

Winter Series Race #3

Heat - 4th

Feature - 7th

Mason took the lead in the feature with about 10 laps to go.  Coming to the checkered flag, Mason was involved in an accident.  It took the track officials a while to figure out what happened before they made a ruling.  We are still trying to figure out what happened.   Hopefully, better luck in Atlanta on December 14.

November 24 - Lanier National Speedway,  Braselton, GA.
Winter Series Race #2
Feature - 1st
This was the inaugural race for the Bandits division at this track.  Mason's car was very good and he took the lead on lap 6 and led the final 14 laps for the victory.

November 16 - Mason-Dixon Meltdown,  Concord, NC

Mason had a real good car in practice, but when it came time to race at night the lights would not work.  What a wasted trip to North carolina.

November 9 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Winter Series Race #1

Heat - 1st

Feature - 4th

Led first 13 laps of feature and car got tight.  With 2 laps to go there was a restart and Mason was jacked up from behind and fell to 6th.  Luckily, he was able to salvage a 4th place finish.

October 27 - Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR Nextel Cup Weekend

Feature - 2nd

Starting position was determined by a draw and Mason started 5th. It was an awesome race after the Craftsman Truck series race with thousands of race fans still on hand. Plus a lot of Mason's friends and family turned out for the big night. It was a Great night and the tips that Rick Hendricks picked up helped out his teams on Sunday.

Our Good Friend Joey Clanton finished 6th in the Truck Race.

October 20 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Fall Brawl

Heat - 4th

Feature - DNF

It was a Fall Brawl, with the car. With 5 laps to go and making a pass for 2nd the oil line blew. That ended the racing for night. Looking forward to the next race at AMS on Cup weekend after the Truck race.

September 29 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Qualified - 2nd

Night of Champions !!!

Mason was crowned Bandolero Track Champion at Music City Motorplex. The end of a Great season in Nashville. See the News section for the complete story.

Feature - 7th

Mason started last, 13th, in the feature after trouble in the heat race. He advanced to 7th after dodging numerous wrecks in a shortened race due to the crashed.

September 15 - Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, AL.

Heat - 2nd

Feature - 2nd

Mason blew a motor in practice and had to run his backup car. 

September 8 - Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, AL.

Heat - 1st

Feature - 1st    

Led every lap of the heat race and feature for a Good run.

September 7 - Huntsville Speedway, Huntsville, AL.

Feature - 2nd

September 1 & 2 - Bandolero Nationals, Kentucky Speedway

Saturday - Tune-Up Race for Nationals

Qualified - 3rd  (out of 32 cars)

Heat - 1st

Feature - 2nd

Mason started 3rd in the feature and took the lead on lap 12. He was passed on the last lap and came home a strong 2nd out of 32 cars. A Great run and Confidence builder for the Nationals tomorrow.

Sunday - THE NATIONALS

Qualified - 4th  (out of 32 cars)

Heat - 1st

Feature - 4th

A Good race with many lead changes. Mason got shuffled to 8th on the start and fought back for a Great 4th Place finish. Mason was very excited to finish in the Top 5 at a huge National Event.

August 25 - Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, AL.

Rained Out

August 24 - Huntsville Speedway, Huntsville, AL.

Qualified - 1st

Feature - 1st    

Mason set the fast time and led every lap in the Bandits Division. Good Job!

August 12 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Qualified - 2nd

Feature - 4th

More bad luck, Mason was running 2nd with a few laps to go and he had an A-Frame break on the left front. He held on to the car and limped to a 4th place finish. Our Luck has to change.

August 10 - Huntsville Speedway, Huntsville, AL.

Feature - 3rd

Mason was leading with 4 laps to go and had motor problems that had him finish 3rd. More bad luck.

August 5 - Kentucky Speedway, Sparta, KY.

Qualified - 4th

Feature - 6th

A better day at Kentucky, but not quite what we need to be competitive at the Nationals.

August 4 - Kentucky Speedway, Sparta, KY.

Qualified - 3rd

Feature - 10th

Mason went to the Kentucky Speedway for a 2 race weekend preparing for the Bandolero Nationals on Labor Day Weekend. On Saturday, Mason was running 4th in the feature and a spindle broke knocking him out of the race. A tough break.

August 2 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Night Thunder Race #10

Heat - 2nd

Feature - 7th

Mason entered the week with a slim 2 point lead in the point championship at AMS. Unfortunately for Mason the car was not very good in the feature and he finished 7th. He finished just 4 points out of the championship. Good try Buddy!!! A Great AMS Summer Series with 6 Heat Wins, 1 Feature Win and 8 Top 5 Finishes after having to start 9th or 10th for 6 consecutive weeks. 

July 28 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Thursday Night Thunder Race #9

Feature - 5th

A good conservative race after starting 10th in the feature. Still the points leader after week 9.

Thursday Night Thunder Race #8

Heat - 1st

Feature - 5th

Mason got crashed early in the race. After 2 pit stops under caution, with Rusty Clanton making repairs, Mason drove the damaged car to a 5th place finish. A Great job and still the point leader.

July 15 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN

Feature - 2nd

Still has the points lead at Nashville and trying to win the coveted Championship Guitar.

July 13 - Huntsville Speedway, Huntsville, AL.

Heat - 1st

Feature - 1st    

First bandolero race at Huntsville Speedway. Mason was 1st Place in the Bandits Division.

July 12 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Night Thunder Race #7

Heat - 1st

Feature - 2nd

Mason started 9th and took the lead on Lap 9. He was in control for the win until a caution with 2 laps to go that bunched the field together. Mason got passed on Lap 19 and finished 2nd. A Great run from the 19th starting spot.

July 4 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Night Thunder Race #6

Heat - 2nd

Feature - 3rd

Mason & Chase Elliott (Bill's son) battled for the lead to make a very exciting race! They got together and both card had to go to the rear of the field. Mason battled back from 17th to finish 3rd.

June 30 - Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, Al

Heat - 1st

Feature - 1st    

Saturday was a very long day for Mason but a great one.  Saturday morning, Mason's Upward Flag Football team, The Broncos, won their first game of the season and Mason scored his 1st touchdown on about a 20 yard run.  Later that night, in Mobile, Alabama, Mason won the heat race and feature race at Sunny South Raceway.

June 28 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Night Thunder Race #5

Heat - 1st

Feature - 7th

Mason had to start the feature 9th because he is currently the Thursday Thunder points leader.  He quickly moved to 3rd place by lap 3, and then a lapped car got into Mason and spun himself.  The race officials placed Mason and the lapped car to the rear because of the caution flag.  Mason restarted the race in the 17th position, and made his way to 7th by the time the race ended.  Not a bad finish considering the circumstances.  He is now tied for the Thursday Thunder points lead with Evan Bell.

June 23 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Qualified - 1st

Feature - 1st    

Mason Had a good car in Nashville, and led all 15 laps for the win.

June 21 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Night Thunder Race #4

Heat - 1st

Feature - 2nd

Mason was forced to start the feature race in the 10th position because he is currently The Thursday Thunder points leader.  He did a great job racing to the front with a very fast race car and finished 2nd behind his little buddy, Dillon Bassett.  Congrats to Dillon on his first Thursday Thunder victory.

June 19 - Lowe's Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC.

Heat - 10th

B-Main - 7th

Feature - 14th

Overall, it was a tough night as Mason and Dad had to fight one issue after another.  In the heat race, the fuel pump quit working.  After transferring to the feature from the B-Main, Mason had to start 25th and worked his way up to 14th for a respectable finish.

June 14 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Thunder Race #3

Heat - 1st

Feature - 1st    

Tonight was the night Mason had been waiting on for a long time.  He had a great battle with Kyle Benjamin in the feature, passing for the lead with 3 laps to go and held on for his First Thursday Thunder Victory.  Mason was very excited after coming close so many times.

June 12 - Lowe's Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC.

Heat - 1st

Feature - 3rd (DQ)

Mason had a very good car at Lowe's Motor Speedway, he started 4th in his heat race and won.  In the feature, Mason started 3rd and led the race for a few laps, but he got passed by Dillon Bassett and Evan Swilling and wound up a strong 3rd out of 34 cars.  Unfortunately, Mason was disqualified in post race technical inspection because Dad installed the restrictor plate gasket improperly.  By the way, restrictor plates STINK!!!!!!!

June 10 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Feature - 1st    

Mason started the race in the 3rd position and quickly took the lead and led all 15 laps for the win.

June 7 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Thunder Race #2

Heat - 4th

Feature - 2nd

Car was real good in the feature. Mason, Evan Bell, and Davey Matthews put on a show with great side by side racing with many lead changes.  All three drivers received a special award from A.M.S. for their "Smooth Driving." 

May 31 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Thunder Race #1

Heat - 1st

Feature - 5th

Mason started on the pole for the feature and led the first 11 laps, but his handling went away and he fell to 5th.

May 27 -  Sunny South Raceway, Mobile, AL.

Regional Bandolero Championship Race, Memorial Day Bash

Qualified - 1st

Feature - 1st    

A Good field of cars representing Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama & Texas. Mason qualified fastest and started on the pole. He led all 25 laps of the feature but was challenged by Bayley Curry and T.J. Michael, both from Texas. It was a very competitive and exciting race for Mason to be able to Win.

May 12 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN. Qualified - 1st Feature - 1st     Mason had a Great run.

May 5 - Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN.

Mason's 1st race on a dirt track. He adapted quickly and enjoyed the new challenge.

In 1st visit to this very competitive track in the heart of NASCAR country, Mason won his Heat race and the Feature race.

The 9th and Final race of the Georgia Winter Series. Mason entered the final race 2 points out of first place. Running 2nd with 8 laps to go he was spun from behind and lost the chance at being the Winter Series champion. He had to goto the rear of the field because of the spin and finished 9th.

February 3 - Atlanta Motor Speedway - Road Course

Leading the race with 2 laps to go and was crashed from behind under caution. Held on to finish 3rd with a damaged car.

In the heat race Mason Had to start last because he drew the highest number in registration, in only 6 laps he made it to third and finished a strong 4th.  For the feature, Mason started 4th, it was a very rough race with some very aggressive driving.  With two laps to go Mason made the pass for 2nd and held on for a good 2nd place finish with a fast car prepared by Rusty Clanton.  After 4 of the 9 Winter Series Races, Mason sits 2nd in points, just 6 points out of first.
